Wisconsin women's hockey: Jackie Friesen named assistant coach of Canada National U-18 Team

Wisconsin women's hockey assistant coach Jackie Friesen has been asked to reprise her role as the assistant coach on the Canada Women's National U-18 Team for the upcoming season. Friesen helped lead the team to a gold medal at the 2014 IIHF U-18 Women's World Championships.

The squad will be coached by Quinnipiac assistant coach Cassie Turner, while Mercyhurst's Delaney Collins will serve in the other assistant coach's role.

The team will be selected in early August in Calgary during camps held at the same time as national development team camps that five Badgers were invited to.

After the camp, the team will play a three-game series against the United States’ Women’s Under-18 Select Team on Aug. 21, 22 and 24. Canada will defend its world title at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s Championship from Jan. 5-12, 2015, in Buffalo, New York.
