Wisconsin women's Hockey: Madison Packer named WCHA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Wisconsin senior forward Madison Packer made LaBahn Arena history last weekend when she tallied its first ever (her second-career) hat trick. She added another goal and two assists on the weekend to bring her career total to 97 points, good for 18th in school history. That performance earned her WCHA Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Packer shares this week's honor with Minnesota's Rachel Bona, who also tallied a hat trick.

Packer is on a torrid pace to close out the first part of the season. She has 16 points so far, nine of which have come in the past two weeks.

The weekly award is the fourth in Packer's career. She is now just three points from becoming the 18th Badger to amass 100 career points.

Packer also had the chance for a second hat trick Sunday.

“On the assist at the end of the game, it was a two-on-one with some people coming back,” Packer told reporters after the game. “And I was thinking in my head ‘If I shoot I can score and have another hat trick,’ but Harding was wide open. It was a good play, she went hard to the net. She’s been grinding all weekend and basically I knew all I had to do was slide over and she could tap it in.”
