The Wisconsin Badgers have secured a commitment from 2024 safety Mason Lane, he announced on X Wednesday.
“Thanks to my family, friends, coaches and teachers who has helped me up to this point. Thank you to every coach that recruited and offered, I wish nothing but the best for you. The next 4-5 years I’ll be playing for my hometown team. I can’t wait to be a Badger. On Wisconsin!”
Lane, a Wisconsin native, will commit to the Badgers as a preferred walk-on.
The safety joins three-star safeties Xavier Lucas, Kahmir Prescott, and Raphael Dunn in the Badgers 2024 recruiting class.
Lane was a two-way player who recently led Lodi High School to a second Division 4 State Title as a quarterback, scoring four touchdowns, while intercepting a pass.
While Lane had multiple D-II and D-III offers, the opportunity to play for his hometown school was one that the quarterback/safety couldn’t pass up.
Lane joins a talented Badgers safety room that is led by junior safety Hunter Wohler, who accumulated 110 tackles this past season.
