Wisconsin's 2014 recruiting class lost one of its three defensive ends Monday, as three-star prospect Rohan Blackwood has elected to reopen his commitment, according to Badger 247.
The three-star, Brooksville, Fla., defensive end committed to Wisconsin in September shortly after his official visit to Madison. Considered nation's 26th-ranked weak-side defensive end and the 84th-ranked 2014 player out of Florida, Blackwood is said to be considering Marshall, South Florida and Wisconsin, among others.
He was recruited by defensive coordinator Dave Aranda (with an assistant from defensive line coach Chad Kauha'aha'a) and initially chose Wisconsin over more than a dozen other offers from schools including Nebraska, Cincinnati, Louisville, Miami and Minnesota. At the time, he was considered a solid fit for the Badgers' new 3-4 defense as an athletic, attacking defender. Wisconsin already has Alec James and Leon Jacobs with a year in the program under their belts, and Blackwood was expected to join them in solidifying the future of Wisconsin's pass rush. He's also versatile enough to move back to linebacker, if needed.
Blackwood is the third decommit from Wisconsin's 2014 class, following quarterback Chance Stewart (Western Michigan) and defensive tackle Joe Keels (Nebraska). Flood did report a source saying Wisconsin "will still be in the picture" for Blackwood.
Wisconsin's 2014 class now stands at 24 members, with four early enrollees expected in offensive tackle Jaden Gault, quarterback D.J. Gillins, guard Michael Deiter and safety Austin Hudson.
