Fresh off two 3-0 sweeps last week over the Jackson State Tigers and Miami Hurricanes, the Wisconsin Badgers are set to face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Round of 16 on Thursday, with the match starting at 6:00 P.M. CT at the UW Field House.

With two wins under their belt, the Badgers, who earned the No. 3 overall seed and a No. 1 regional seed on Selection Sunday, drew the Nittany Lions, who are the No. 5 seed in the region.

After a close first set, the Badgers were able to comfortably pull away against Miami, winning 25-23. 25-15, 25-17 in straight sets for their 28th victory of the season.

Anna Smrek led the way with 15 kills, while Sarah Franklin had 13 kills of her own and Temi Thomas-Ailara had 10, good for third on the team.

In this one, the Badgers are looking to get revenge for one of their three losses, as they’ll face a Penn State team who beat them in State College on November 11th in a 3-1 match.

Penn State entered the tournament on a five-match winning streak, which has only continued early on, as they’ve beaten Yale and Kansas to move to the Round of 16.

The winner of Friday’s game will face the winner of No. 3 Purdue, whom Wisconsin also lost to over the final month of the season, versus No. 2 Oregon.

Will it be the Badgers or can Penn State get another upset?
