The Wisconsin Badgers started the second half of their season strong with a 3-0 win over the Air Force Falcons on Thursday, setting up a matchup with Northeastern in the Finals of the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

It was the Badgers’ sixth-straight win, dating back to their five-game win streak to end the first half of the season.

The scoring started with sophomore forward Simon Tassy, who got an assist from Ben Dexheimer before firing in the score just under five minutes into the matchup.

Then, near the end of the first period, freshman William Whitelaw was assessed a major penalty for contact to the head, providing Air Force with an extended power play, but the Badgers killed it, as they have with major penalties all season long.

After a quiet second period, the Badgers got an early third-period goal from David Silye with an assist from Anthony Kehrer to increase their lead to 2-0, which Air Force could never recover from.

An empty-net power play goal to end the game from Silye made it a 3-0 win for the Badgers, who improve to 15-4 on the season.

It was the fourth shutout of the year for goalie Kyle McClellan, which leads the country.

Next up, the Badgers take on Northeastern in their final matchup of the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off, with the match scheduled to start at 7:30 P.M. CT on Friday.
