There has been some interest in college hockey betting lines over the past few weeks on Twitter, so I figured I might as well do a weekly post with the available lines whenever I remember. As far as I know, 5Dimes is the only offshore website that takes college hockey wagers. They also only take wagers on games that are televised nationally (or that can be found on various dish/cable sports packages), so it's usually only a couple games every week.
There are three games available on the board this week, with St. Cloud/Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota/Denver dropping the puck on Friday night, and Clarkson/Michigan State meeting on Sunday.
The biggest favorite this week is Nebraska-Omaha (-210) at home on Friday against St. Cloud State (+165). If you're not familiar with gambling, that means you need to wager $210 on UNO to win a return of $100. On the flip side, if you wager $100 on St. Cloud State as the underdog, it would net a positive return of $165.
North Dakota/Denver is also an intriguing contest. North Dakota is a slight road favorite, but this game is essentially a coin flip. Also, an over/under of 6 1/2 seems a bit high, although it's a bit of a trap, as the under is a -185 right now.
The money line for the Clarkson/Michigan State game is a bit puzzling. The game is at Munn, and while the Spartans are struggling a bit this season, it isn't as if Clarkson is a powerhouse. The Golden Knights are 6-7-4 and just 2-6-2 in non-conference games this season. Michigan State is coming off one of its best efforts of the season last Saturday, a tie and shootout win against Minnesota. Could be some value available on the Spartans Sunday.
