Nic Kerdiles ruled out for Ohio State series due to shoulder injury

Sophomore Nic Kerdiles will miss his third and fourth straight games due to a shoulder injury suffered in the Alaska-Anchorage series.

When Wisconsin hosts Ohio State this weekend in a Big Ten hockey matchup, it will once again be without one of its biggest offensive threats.

At his weekly press conference on Monday, UW head coach Mike Eaves ruled Nic Kerdiles out for this upcoming weekend's series due to a shoulder injury

Kerdiles injured the shoulder Jan. 4 after colliding awkwardly into Alaska-Anchorage forward Matt Bailey.

Kerdiles did not return to action in the Jan. 4 game vs. Anchorage and missed both games of the Michigan series the following weekend.

The Badgers were able to sweep the Wolverines despite the absence of Kerdiles, running their record without him in his two-year Wisconsin career to 5-8-2. With the sophomore center in the lineup, UW is 29-11-6.

Despite missing 5 1/2 games this season due to injury and the World Junior Championships, Kerdiles is fourth on the Badgers in scoring with eight goals and nine assists in 15 games.

Senior winger Sean Little -- who, like Kerdiles, missed the Michigan series with a shoulder injury -- could possibly play this weekend, according to Eaves. Little injured his shoulder in practice the week leading up to the Anchorage series. He's considered ahead of Kerdiles on the timetable for returning to action.
