After a somewhat quiet 2013 NHL Draft from a Wisconsin perspective, the Badgers are expected hear one recruit's name called in the early going of the 2014 version.
NHL Central Scouting released its midterm list on Monday, and UW recruit Jack Dougherty was ranked as the No. 29 North American skater. When European players and goaltenders are added to the fold, that likely projects Dougherty as a second-round pick in June.

The defenseman from Cottage Grove, Minn., committed to Wisconsin Oct. 3, picking the Badgers over Minnesota, Michigan, Boston College and Boston University.
Dougherty, who currently skates for the U.S. NTDP U-18 team, was a one-time Ohio State recruit, but decided to re-open his recruitment after Mark Osiecki was fired last spring.
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Dougherty has signed a national letter of intent, and will join the Badgers next fall.
Two other Wisconsin recruits were also ranked by Central Scouting on Monday. Matthew Berkovitz, a 2015 defense recruit from Ashwaubenon high school was ranked No. 78. Fellow 2015 recruit Seamus Malone from the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL checked in at No. 128.
Other players of note include Christian Dvorak, who decommitted from Wisconsin last summer to sign with the London Kinghts of the OHL at No. 69, and potential recruit Tyler Sheehy of the Waterloo Blackhawks at No. 150.
Two other Wisconsin natives on the list were North Dakota recruit Nick Schmaltz (Verona) at No. 19, and Michigan Tech recruit Cooper Watson (Appleton) at No. 178.
