When Wisconsin hosts St. Cloud this weekend in Madison, it will have a chance to accomplish something no other team in the Mike Eaves era has been able to do. During Eaves' first 10 seasons behind the Badgers' bench, none of his teams have won a regular-season league title.
Just four points back of the league-leading Huskies, the Badgers will have a shot at the MacNaughton Cup for the first time in a decade if they can sweep St. Cloud and receive some help around the league.
But due to the WIAA boys basketball tournament being played at the Kohl Center this weekend, the Badgers will host the Huskies at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center.
In an effort to increase the atmosphere at the games this weekend, Wisconsin is selling student tickets for just $7 each night. UW students purchasing tickets must enter the promo code "UWSTUDENT" to receive student pricing. There is a limit of two student tickets per student.
A free shuttle bus for students will run from Union South starting at 6 p.m. both nights. The pick-up location will be at the corner of Engineering Drive and N. Randall Avenue. Buses to the Dane County Veteran's Memorial Coliseum will run until about 7:15 p.m. The shuttle back to campus will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. and run until 10:15 p.m.
General tickets are still on sale for $24 and can be purchased on ticketmaster.com, or at the Coliseum box office. I'm told that there is no ticketmaster fee if you buy them at the Coliseum box office.
The Veterans Memorial Coliseum concession stands will be open to purchase food and beverages throughout both games. Beer will also be available for purchase.
Wisconsin also plans to hang banners like it used to do when the Badgers called the Coliseum home. Here are a few examples.
