Women's hockey: Rigsby named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Honor tops off a big week for the senior captain

Senior goaltender and captain Alex Rigsby was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week following a spectacular weekend showing in North Dakota. It is the tenth time she has earned the award during her career.

Rigbsy stopped 54 of 55 shots faced, including three during the shootout on Friday night. She recorded her 26th career shutout on Friday On Saturday, she notched her 91st career win, tying her for the most in school history.

She leads the country with a 1.00 goals against average and a .959 save percentage.

According to the UW release, the goal allowed on Saturday ended a streak of just more than 167 minutes of shutout hockey by Rigsby.

The Badgers take a ten game unbeaten streak into Duluth to face the Bulldogs this weekend.
