Wisconsin women's hockey: Badgers rise to No. 2 in USCHO poll

A weekend sweep of St. Cloud powered Wisconsin in the rankings.

The Wisconsin women's hockey team has moved up in the polls after its weekend sweep of conference opponent St. Cloud State. The Badgers are ranked No. 2 for the first time since last season's preseason poll.

Undefeated Minnesota remains atop the poll, but Wisconsin moved past Boston College and Clarkson to take the second spot.

The Badgers have the middle weekend of a six-game home stand ahead as they face Lindenwood. The home stand finishes on Nov. 2-3 against Ohio State. Ohio State upset conference opponent North Dakota Friday night, making a statement in the WCHA, where Minnesota, UW, UND and Minnesota-Duluth have maintained a stronghold for many years.
