Second Period Updates...

--18:52-Michael Mersch comes out flying on his first shift, and takes one hard to the net but can't finish.

--17:29-Back-to-back outstanding saves from Joel Rumpel on a big scoring threat from Miami's third line.

--16:50-Ugly turnover from Wisconsin freshman defenseman Kevin Schulze leading to a scoring chance. Needs to be smarter with the puck.

--11:25-Wisconsin goal from Michael Mersch assisted by Derek Lee and Joseph LaBate. LaBate sends a shot down low, Lee picks it up, sends it to Mersch who goes high blocker on McKay.

--10:38-John Ramage takes a slashing penalty as he was chasing down a Miami player on a break away. Should have been a penalty shot.

--4:13-Zengerle catches a pass on the back door and tires to find Kerdiles on the other side but the pass sails just wide.

--3:53-MIAMI goal...Curtis McKenzie picks up a loose puck along the half-wall and throws a shot on net. With Rumpel screened, the puck finds the back of the net. Alex Gacek and Sean Kuraly assist on the play.

--2:45-Miami's Caito is called for holding Nic Kerdiles going hard to the net.

--1:27-Wisconsin's Mark Zengerle rings one off the crossbar on the PP.

Additional Thoughts...

--It's no joke that Miami is ranked so high defensively, their D-core is absolutely ridiculous. Sound all the way around.

--Wisconsin is now 6 for 63 on the PP on the season (9.52%).
