Badgers jump up in AP Top 25 ahead of conference play

The Badgers are moving up the rankings ahead of their conference games.

Fresh off a 80-53 victory over the Chicago State Cougarss, the Wisconsin Badgers have moved up in the AP Top 25 from No. 24 to No. 23.

After starting as the first team outside of the Top 25, the Badgers dropped with early losses to Tennessee and Providence, but climbed back up the rankings with strong victories over Virginia, SMU, Marquette, and Michigan State en route to an 9-3 record thus far.

This past week, the Badgers went 1-0 with a win over Chicago State, and moved up one spot after the No. 22 Virginia Cavaliers dropped out of the rankings after a 77-54 loss to No. 23 Memphis.

Wisconsin is one of three Big Ten teams in the AP Top 25, joining the No. 1 Purdue Boilermakers and the No. 11 Illinois Fighting Illini.

Illinois has continued its rise up the rankings with a 9-2 start, most recently beating Missouri 97-73.

Following the break, the Badgers will now face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes at home on January 2nd, kicking off their conference slate.

In addition to being ranked at No. 23 in the AP Top 25, the Badgers were listed at No. 14 in this week’s NET rankings, moving up four spots.
