Wisconsin Badgers vs. SMU Mustangs: Game Thread

Can the Badgers bring home a tournament championship against SMU?

The Wisconsin Badgers are set to face off against the SMU Mustangs in the Fort Myers Classic Tip-off Championship on Wednesday, having defeated the Virginia Cavaliers in a 65-41 blowout on Monday.

With the win earlier this week, the Badgers notched their first Quad 1 victory and improved to 3-2 ahead of Wednesday’s game, where tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. CT.

On Wednesday, the Badgers looked to rally behind big man Steven Crowl, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds on 70 percent shooting. They could look to implement the strategy once again, as SMU doesn’t have a starter taller than 6’9.

The Mustangs have started their season off well, going 4-1, with their lone loss coming at the hands of the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies.

In order to reach the championship, SMU beat a short-handed West Virginia unit 70-58, thanks to 17 points and 12 rebounds from Zhuric Phelps.

The Badgers are seen as 7.5-point favorites, with the over/under set at 138.5 points.

Can Wisconsin bring home an early-season tournament championship on Wednesday? They’ll look to do so with nearly their entire roster, except for freshman Gus Yalden, who has been ruled out.
