College basketball rankings: Wisconsin No. 3 in AP Top 25, USA TODAY Coaches Polls

No first-place votes, though.

Between its wins over Illinois and Iowa and a pair of losses by Ohio State, Wisconsin was widely expected to rise in the latest college basketball polls released Monday. Indeed, the Badgers are No. 3 in both the AP Top 25 and USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

Wisconsin is also No. 1 in the official NCAA RPI rankings. The Badgers have a pair of games this week, beginning Tuesday night at Indiana, a team it has won 12 straight against. Saturday, Wisconsin returns home to host Michigan, which is unranked but receiving votes in both polls.

Other Big Ten teams in the polls include Michigan State (No. 4 AP/No. 4 Coaches/No. 9 RPI), Ohio State (11/9/16) and Iowa (14/16/18).

One slightly puzzling note: Michigan State received a first-place vote from the coaches, despite the aforementioned rankings and a loss to North Carolina on its record. Wisconsin received zero first-place votes in either poll.
