Basketball season is finally, gracefully here. Well, almost.
The Wisconsin Badgers host the UW-Oshkosh Titans tonight at the Kohl Center for their first and only exhibition game of the season. That is, unless you count last Sunday's Red/White Scrimmage, and you can read all about that here and here.
As for tonight, there are several things to look out for despite the "exhibition" designation. The first, most naturally, is Wisconsin's starting lineup. After observing practice this week, that's believed to be as follows:
F Ryan Evans
Off the bench, you have to imagine Traevon Jackson, Zach Bohannon and Sam Dekker will be the next ones off the bench. That gives the Badgers a talented, yet inexperienced, eight-man rotation. Given the loss of Josh Gasser to a torn ACL, it wouldn't be a surprise if freshman guard Zak Showalter isn't redshirted as initially expected. That's stil up in the air, though.
It'll also be interesting to see how much head coach Bo Ryan tinkers with his rotation, both tonight and throughout the non-conference slate. Historically, Ryan's been pretty steady with his lineups prior to Big Ten play. But with such a young roster, perhaps it behooves the Badgers to throw everything out there early in the season and see what sticks.
We'll be running gamethreads for every game, and it doesn't appear tonight's is on TV unless you have the BTN.com online package. Either way, please do join us in the comments below. On Wisconsin.
