Wisconsin senior forward Mike Bruesewitz sustained a lower right leg laceration at practice on Tuesday.
Following a successful surgery, Bruesewitz has already begun rehab and is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, the UW Sports Medicine Staff announced on Wednesday. Per the men's basketball team's official Twitter account, Bruesewitz sustained the injury while diving out of bounds. The 6-foot-6 forward then "awkwardly contacted" the back half of the basket standard, causing the injury.
After averaging 5.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season, the St. Paul, Minn., native is expected to once again be a critical part of the Badgers' starting five. The four-to-six-weeks timeline goes right into the start of the Badgers' season, which begin with an exhibition game vs. UW-Oshkosh on Nov. 7 and the regular-season opener on Nov. 11 vs. Southeastern Louisiana, both at the Kohl Center. On Nov. 14, Wisconsin gets its first real test with a trip to Florida.
