The Wisconsin Badgers have finally landed a defensive lineman in the transfer portal, flipping defensive tackle Brandon Lane from the Louisville Cardinals and signing him on Friday.

Lane, a redshirt sophomore, will come to Madison with three years of eligibility remaining after starting his career at Stephen F. Austin.

As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Lane had 45 tackles and 1.5 sacks with the Lumberjacks, and will look to break the rotation as a key contributor for the Badgers in 2024.

Standing at 6’3, 300 pounds, Lane provides the Badgers with a bigger body that could be plug-and-play on the interior, and more importantly, gives the team the depth they’ve desperately been looking for in the transfer portal.

Wisconsin saw significant turnover in the offseason, as they lost Rodas Johnson, Gio Paez, Isaiah Mullens, Darian Varner, Mike Jarvis, and Tommy Brunner, among others.

They did add Albany transfer Elijah Hills, who is projected to be a part of the two-deep, but were actively looking for a defensive lineman in the transfer portal this spring.

Now, they have their guy with Brandon Lane, who not only should contribute in 2024, but also has several years of eligibility as well.
