The Wisconsin Badgers faced some tough news at defensive line earlier last month when starting defensive end Rodas Johnson entered the transfer portal for his final season of eligibility.
Johnson, a multi-year starter at Wisconsin, has found a new home, however, moving on to the SEC with the Texas A&M Aggies, who recently hired new head coach Mike Elko away from Duke.
Johnson was projected to slot in as a starter for his final season in Madison, but the Badgers will now look to fill that void elsewhere, as they’ve been active at the defensive line position in the transfer portal.
Playing in 12 games this season, Johnson accumulated 19 tackles, three tackles for loss, and half a sack. This came after the defensive end had 23 tackles, six tackles for loss, and a sack in 2022 for the Badgers.
Wisconsin is currently holding over just one starter along the defensive line from last year’s unit: James Thompson Jr.
Of the three starters from last year, Johnson has transferred out, while Gio Paez graduated.
