Badgers starting WR Chimere Dike entering the transfer portal

The Badgers are losing one of their top players and leaders to the transfer portal.

The Wisconsin Badgers are losing one of the team’s top leaders, as wide receiver Chimere Dike is entering the transfer portal for his final season of eligibility.

Dike, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, had spent the last four seasons with the Badgers and was contemplating all of his options at the end of the year, ultimately deciding to go elsewhere.

A starter in each of the last two years, Dike broke out in 2022 as a reliable weapon, taking over the top wideout spot and catching 47 passes for 689 yards and six touchdowns, including 10 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern.

However, amid a new offense and a plethora of transfer wideouts, Dike’s role diminished in 2023, as the wideout fell behind both Will Pauling and Bryson Green, finishing third on the team with 19 catches for 328 yards and a touchdown.

Dike’s loss is one that’ll especially reflect on the locker room, as the wideout was an in-state recruit that spent his entire career with the Badgers.

But, he’ll now look for a different home for his final year in hopes of bouncing back before vying for the NFL Draft.
