Last Friday, it was a wide receiver. This Friday, it’s a linebacker.
The Wisconsin Badgers have secured a commitment from Northern Iowa linebacker Jahsiah Galvan, he announced on Friday.
Galvan, a redshirt freshman, saw extensive action in 2023, recording 77 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss, while forcing a fumble and an interception.
At Wisconsin, Galvan will suit up as an inside linebacker, filling out some of the depth that the team is losing with Jordan Turner and Maema Njongmeta not returning in 2023.
However, Galvan has a unique profile, as he played defensive back in high school and profiles as a hybrid linebacker that defensive coordinator Mike Tressel is looking for.
Galvan had taken an official visit with several other transfer portal targets last weekend and ultimately came out with a strong impression of Wisconsin.
Galvan is the seventh transfer to commit to Wisconsin in this cycle, joining Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, William & Mary outside linebacker John Pius, Syracuse outside linebacker Leon Lowery, Cincinnati long snapper Cayson Pfeiffer, Michigan State wide receiver Tyrell Henry, and LSU tight end Jackson McGohan.
