Wisconsin Badgers outside linebacker Ross Gengler is entering the transfer portal, he announced on Friday.

Gengler, a walk-on redshirt junior, was a native of Delavan, Wisconsin who passed on a number of D-II and D-III offers to join the Badgers.

He saw action in eight games last season on special teams, which trimmed down to one appearance in 2023.

In his farewell message, Gengler shared appreciation to the coaching staff and his teammates for his time at Wisconsin.

“I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Wisconsin Badger Football program for the past 4 years. Thank you to Coach Chryst, Coach Leonhard, Coach Haering, Coach Fickell, and Coach Mitchell for giving me an opportunity to play for a team that I have not only watched growing up but dreamed of playing for in Camp Randall.”

“To my teammates, thank you for the memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime. With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal in pursuit of my next opportunity. I will be entering with 2 years left of eligibility.”
