Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Myles Burkett has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday.

A redshirt freshman, Burkett elected not to transfer amid significant change last season, choosing to compete with the three incoming transfers in Tanner Mordecai, Braedyn Locke, and Nick Evers.

Burkett spent a majority of the year as the third-string quarterback behind Mordecai and Locke, but ultimately decided to look for other opportunities next season.

While Mordecai’s eligibility had run out, the Badgers were still going to have a hefty quarterback with four-star freshman Mabrey Mettauer coming in with the 2024 class. Additionally, Wisconsin could look to the portal for another player this offseason.

Of the young group of quarterbacks, Burkett seemed the likeliest to transfer, as Evers and Locke would both have to sit out one year, as they’ve already transferred once and aren’t graduates yet.

Burkett did not make an appearance this season after seeing action in two games last year.

He becomes the second Badgers player to hit the transfer portal after offensive lineman Dylan Barrett announced his decision to move on earlier Wednesday.
