The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a 28-14 victory, reclaiming the Axe Trophy for the first time in three years, while stopping the Gophers from reaching bowl eligibility.

It’s been an up-and-down season for Wisconsin, who endured a tough three-game losing streak after a solid start, keeping them away from the Big Ten Championship discussion, but the Badgers were ultimately able to win their final two games, improving to 7-5 on the year.

Offensively, the Badgers pounded the ball on the ground, rushing 44 times for 267 yards, as top back Braelon Allen rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 26 attempts. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai was also a major factor in the run game.

Defensively, the Badgers overcame a slow start, once again, to record a second-half shutout, forcing two turnovers to keep the momentum on Wisconsin’s side.

Following the game, Badgers insider Rohan Chakravarthi shared his instant reaction to the 28-14 win, reacting to the win and pointing out the major takeaways of the game.
