Former Wisconsin director of football operations Zach Nyborg has been hired by BYU, his alma mater. The move was first reported Monday by FootballScoop.com and later confirmed by both teams on Twitter.
Prior to joining Andersen's staff at Wisconsin, Nyborg spent three years with UW's head coach at Utah State, where he served as the Aggies' recruiting coordinator. Previously, he graduated from BYU in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in management.
In a text to Madison.com, Nyborg said the move was difficult.
"Difficult decision would be an understatement," he wrote. "Coach A is my guy but it's home with friends and family."
Wisconsin and BYU currently have a home-and-home series scheduled for 2018 and 2019, with the Badgers first hosting the Cougars before traveling to Provo, Utah, the following year.
Grateful for the opportunity to come home & join BYU Football! Excited to work w/ Coach Mendenhall, the staff & most importantly players!

Can't describe how difficult it is to leave Coach A. He is like a father & his family are like my own. Love you guys!
