Why didn't we see Curt Phillips at quarterback?

So Wisconsin started Joel Stave, as expected. Many thought offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig would trot out Curt Phillips, as well, to gain more clarity in a position battle that was close throughout fall camp.

However, once Stave was pulled in the fourth quarter with the Badgers comfortably ahead in what became a 45-0 victory, Phillips remained on the sideline. Instead, redshirt freshman Bart Houston took the field. Houston completed his only pass attempt for eight yards, and before we knew it, the game was over and Phillips' absence was nothing but a sidenote.

Turns out, there's actually a good reason Phillips never played.

Just fantastic leadership by Phillips. Andersen also called it "a defining moment," which makes for a picture-perfect quote to revisit if Wisconsin ends up having a storybook season.
