Wisconsin, South Florida Agree to Home-and-Home Series

The Badgers continued their push toward tougher non-conference scheduling by announcing a series with the Bulls beginning in 2014.

On the heels of the Big Ten inching the closest it's ever been to a nine-game conference schedule, Wisconsin announced on Friday a home-and-home series with South Florida. The Badgers will host the Bulls in Madison on Sept. 27, 2014, before traveling to Tampa on Sept. 16, 2017.

"We obviously recruit a lot in the state of Florida and these games will be great for our exposure down there," Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen said in a statement. "USF is traditionally a strong program so it's exciting to get a quality opponent on the schedule for our players and the fans."

Wisconsin and USF have never faced each other, though the Bulls will certainly make for a non-conference upgrade -- they've made six bowl games in the last eight years. They've also won at least eight games in five of the last seven seasons.

One more level of intrigue -- South Florida's new head coach is Wille Taggart, who at one time was rumored to be a heavy favorite for Wisconsin's job, which ultimately went to Gary Andersen.
