Wisconsin jumps to No. 22 in Week 12 BCS standings

Wisconsin's quest for an at-large BCS bid remains alive, though the Badgers need more and more help with every passing week. The Badgers made a two-spot jump to No. 22 in the Week 12 BCS standings released Sunday night, but the top-14 range needed for an at-large bid is still far off.

The Badgers were impressive in their win over BYU Saturday, but the two-spot climb is all they received from the BCS. The human polls were somewhat kinder, as the AP Top 25 bumped the Badgers up four spots, while the Coaches Poll boosted them two spots. The latter is the only one that matters for the BCS, though, along with the Harris Poll. There, Wisconsin lies at No. 21.

The remaining two games of the season are unlikely to change much -- Wisconsin will be expected to soundly defeat Indiana at home this Saturday, beat a much-improved Minnesota squad and then take down Penn State at home to close the season. That's a solid, but hardly spectacular slate of opponents to close out the regular season. Barring a total collapse from Ohio State over that span, Wisconsin won't be heading to the Big Ten Championship Game, and thus, its BCS hopes require significant help.

Of note: Wisconsin earned an average ranking of 18 from the computer rankings, the highest being 18 and the lowest being a non-ranking.
