Wisconsin enjoyed a rise in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Sunday, though not one as large as its four-spot climb in the AP Top 25. After taking down BYU, Wisconsin jumped two spots to No. 20 in the coaches poll, which comprises 1/3 of the BCS standings that will be released 7:40 p.m. CT Sunday night.
The Badgers are seeing a top-14 finish in the BCS, as that will make them eligible for an at-large BCS bowl bid. SB Nation's Jason Kirk doesn't think that'll be the case, as he dropped Wisconsin out of the Orange Bowl and into the Capital One Bowl vs. Texas A&M in his latest BCS projections. That's not due to any Wisconsin-related shortcomings; with Oregon's loss to Stanford Saturday, the Ducks fall out of the No. 2 BCS ranking and consequently the national championship game, making them the highest-rated at-large contender with Stanford as the Pac-12's Rose Bowl representative.
We'll know more once the BCS standings are released later Sunday night, but for now, we can look at Chris Fuhrmeister's latest projected BCS standings to see how much work the Badgers might ahead of them. There, UW is No. 22, two spots ahead up last week's ranking.
