UPDATE: Here is B5Q's new Wisconsin 2016 offers tracker

Welcome to the destination of Wisconsin Badgers commits, targets and offers on Bucky's 5th Quarter. This is a page we'll continually keep updated as new commits, targets and offers come in. You might see versions of the tables below in other places throughout the site, but you can always come here to see the latest prospects Wisconsin is reported to be interested in.

Regarding star rankings: Across the site, we use 247Sports' composite rankings when referencing someone as a two, three, four or five-star recruit. These composite rankings factor in rankings from most scouting services, as well as 247's own. We use them not to play favorites toward 247, but to reflect what is ideally a more accurate ranking of a prospect.

The table below will be updated with prospects Wisconsin is reported to be interested in. That could be a near-endless list, so we'll try to keep it trimmed toward including A.) Only the recruits that have a legitimate chance of committing to Wisconsin B.) Only the recruits that are, say, legitimate two-star recruits and above. The "Offer Date" column includes a link to where we first saw news of that prospect's offer.

I start off the show breaking down the 2014 class and initial reactions to the large focus on the wide receiver and offensive line positions.

At the 13-minute mark, we play our conversation with incoming freshman guard George Panos. What made him commit so early? What kept him a solid verbal to the program? How does he expect to compete his freshman year? He lets us know.

Ben Worgull from BadgerNation.com comes on around the 20 minute mark:

What are his impressions of the class?

Who can have an immediate impact right off the bat?

Fans' perceptions of the class and how they can be distorted from what the coaching staff actually accomplished.

The impact of the loss of running backs coach Thomas Hammock.

How the Badgers will find a way to get reps for all the quarterbacks.

Thoughts around the Big Ten and who won big on National Signing Day.

We had a chance to chat with Everett, Mass., safety Lubern Figaro on Sunday. How's he preparing for football and life at the next level?

Wednesday, Everett, Mass., safety Lubern Figaro signed his national letter of intent to play football at Wisconsin. A few days prior, B5Q had spoke with the three-star commit via email to gauge his feelings on preparing for the next level?

How did your relationship with the Wisconsin coaching staff begin?

Lubern Figaro (LF): The relationship with the coaching staff all started when they started recruiting Jakarrie [Washington].

When you took your official visit to Wisconsin, what stood out most to you?

LF: On my official visit, the things that stood out the most were the fans. I had never seen so many people in my life and how the team treated each other like it was a big family.

How much of an influence was your former teammate from Everett, Jakarrie Washington, on you coming to Wisconsin?

LF: He wasn't really a big influence on my decision. As a man, you have to make your own decisions and that's what I did.

With offers from Michigan State, Vanderbilt and in-state schools like Boston College and Massachusetts, which factors made you decide Wisconsin was the school you wanted to attend and play for?

LF: The factors that made me decide Wisconsin was the school for me was how coach [Gary Andersen\ treated his players and how [safeties coach Bill] Busch treated me.

How has your family supported you through this process?

LF: My family supported me a lot In the process. They were just happy I have to do something special In my life.

What have the coaches told you about playing early in your college career, and do you have a personal goal as to how much you are hoping to contribute on the field next year?

LF: They told me I have a high chance to make an impact early, it's just how badly do I want it. It's all about being mentally and physically strong. My goals are to just not be nervous in front of 90,000 people every night, just have to play my game.

Here are just a couple fun, quick questions for you:

Favorite football player?
Player you idolize or model your game after?
Favorite video game?
Biggest personal influence in your life?

LF: My favorite football player hands down has to be [Seattle Seahawks cornerback] Richard Sherman, hands down. He talks crap but backs it up.

I idolize my game after [Kansas City Chiefs safety] Eric Berry, favorite safety in the league.

Favorite video game has to be [NBA] 2K14. Nobody can touch me In that game.

Biggest influence has to be my mother and father working everyday just to support my brother and sisters.

The second-generation Wisconsin athlete committed early in 2012 and has maintained his verbal ever since, even despite the many changes in Madison.

Hartland, Wis. -- Cameras, friends and family surrounded Arrowhead High School senior George Panos Wednesday morning. This day was nearly two years in the making for the 2014 Wisconsin commit, and the all-state guard was excited to become a member of the UW football program when he signed his letter of intent.

"It feels awesome to finally have it all said and done," Panos said Wednesday. "I'm officially a Badger."

The 6'5, 290-pound lineman originally gave his verbal commitment back in April 2012 during the weekend of Wisconsin's spring intrasquad scrimmage. It was natural for Panos, who declared he's been a Badger all his life as he attended games, and whose father, Joe, was a successful walk-on and team captain that helped lead the program to its first Rose Bowl victory in 1994.

George carved out his own legacy at Arrowhead, starting all four seasons and leading the Warhawks to consecutive state championships in 2012 and 2013. Individually, he was selected as first-team all-state by the Associated Press and the Wisconsin Coaches Football Association in his junior and senior years, as well. Head coach Greg Malling saw the motivation to continue to improve in Panos -- as well as teammate and fellow UW recruit Billy Hirschfeld -- even with on-field success coming early on.

"I think it's very difficult to continue to develop when everybody thinks you're already kind of there, and they've done a great job of growing every year," Malling said.

Letters poured in from nationally-regarded programs -- and they still were as of Wednesday -- but Panos stayed firmly loyal to Wisconsin with head coach Bret Bielema leading the program.

But Bielema left three days after the Badgers' third straight Big Ten championship in December 2012. With the program in flux and a coaching change coming, Panos admitted it was a difficult period with phone calls and letters flying at him from all directions.

"For a while once coach Bielema left, I kind of opened it up a little bit and listened to other schools, and that was a pretty hectic time until I got solid again," Panos said.

However, Panos said it would have taken a lot to switch his commitment to another school due to his love of the university and the tradition the football program holds, especially with its history of successful offensive linemen. It didn't take long for him and his family to build solid relationships with both head coach Gary Andersen and offensive line coach T.J. Woods. Even with scholarship offers rolling in from Miami, Florida State and Arkansas, he remained a Badger.

"It didn't take us long at all for us to buy into coach Andersen," said Joe, now a player agent with Athletes First. "He's a great, great guy, great coach, which he showed this year, so we're excited."

Joe was also impressed with his son's maturity through the whole recruiting process up until National Signing Day. "He's matured, and it's funny because I just remember him being just my little baby, and now he's making all these big moves on his own," Joe said.

The coaching staff believes Panos can make an impact early in his career. Andersen mentioned in his press conference Wednesday how Panos, along with early enrollees Jaden Gault and Michael Deiter have the physical tools to compete in 2014.

George now sets his sights on breaking into the offensive line two-deep and making the traveling squad as a true freshman once he gets on campus later this year.

"I'm going to do whatever it takes," Panos said.

"[Woods] said the opportunity is there. I just have to capitalize on it, and I'm going to make sure I do."

With National Signing Day in the books, Gary Andersen and his staff are looking forward to spring practice.

Two days after National Signing Day, Gary Andersen jumped on The Big 1070 in Madison and The Big 920 in Milwaukee with Mike Lucas and Matt Lepay to reflect on Wisconsin's 2014 recruiting class and tease what might be in store when spring practice opens March 7.

The nine-minute interview is surely worth a listen, but Andersen dropped a few interesting tidbits worth highlighting.

Replacing Thomas Hammock

Lepay was "shooting the breeze" with Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez (of course he was) the other day, and they came to the agreement that the running backs coach position vacated by Thomas Hammock's jump to the NFL is incredibly appealing. After all, you get to work with Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement, and have two enticing freshmen to develop in Taiwan Deal and Caleb Kinlaw.

"If you're a running backs coach, it's a great job with some unbelievable tradition, which we all know," Andersen said. "Anybody that does not know that there's great running backs in the backfield doesn't know anything about Wisconsin football for the next year. It's a very sought-after job, and my phone's lined up pretty deep messages. So we'll get through it quickly."

As he was in his Wednesday press conference, Andersen was nothing but supportive for Hammock, who has recruited and developed Montee Ball, James White, Gordon and Clement. It's also widely known that Hammock spurned previous NFL jobs, and you certainly can't blame someone for chasing their dreams of coaching at the highest level.

2014 class loaded with athleticism

Andersen said he watched highlights of the 2014 class again Thursday night and was once again taken aback by the clear athleticism of some of its members.

"They just appear to be athletic," Andersen said. "There's a lot of big plays on that tape when you look at it. There's eight kids in that signing class that have returned a kickoff for a touchdown, there's 10,000 yards in the three running backs. A lot of things like that, explosive plays, that's what we need, that's what we look for."

Advantages of enrolling early

Asked about the advantages presented to early enrollees, particularly quarterback D.J. Gillins, Andersen also highlighted another name: safety Austin Hudson.

"It's a huge advantage for D.J. to be early, as well as it is for all the kids," Andersen said. "D.J., a tremendous opportunity to compete, to understand the scheme, know the offense, get to know the ins and outs. We all know how important that is as a quarterback. It also allows him to be around his teammates, which I think is a positive.

"You get in these spots with freshmen quarterbacks, and everybody wants to start talking about, 'Is he going to play? Is he not going to play?' That'll all take care of itself, but he's going to compete and he's going to play at a high level."

While Andersen reiterated Wednesday that Joel Stave will open spring practice as the starting quarterback, it seems clear that the position will field a wide-open battle. Aside from Stave and Gillins, Tanner McEvoy, Bart Houston and Connor Senger will all fight for reps, at least early on.

As for Hudson, Andersen also sees him potentially contributing early on, especially in light of some position changes noted below.

"With Austin Hudson, he walks in here as a safety, a lot of times people say, 'the quarterback of the defense,'" Andersen said. "He kind of is back there. He steers the ship a lot of times, if he ends up being a free safety for us."

Andersen noted there was "definite" need at safety, considering the graduation of Dezmen Southward, McEvoy returning to quarterback and the general lack of experience on the depth chart.

Michael Caputo, who also played 12 games at free safety last year, is moving to outside linebacker, Andersen said. That lead us to...

Position changes

Andersen did elaborate on Caputo dropping down to linebacker, making clear the move isn't necessarily concrete.

"We know what Michael can do at safety," Andersen said. "If he has to go back, he can in one second. But we really think we need to get more athletic than we were a year ago at that outside linebacker position into the field [side]."

Andersen also confirmed Joe Schobert will be moving to inside linebacker from the outside, and Alec James will move up to play a sort of hybrid defensive end position. James will still be standing up at times, though Andersen now considers him an end.

On offense, Andersen said there weren't any "major" changes that struck him. The spring will still be different, though, considering some areas lack certain depth.

"We only have two tailbacks, and we're not going to run around and tackle Melvin Gordon and we're not going to tackle Corey Clement very much," Andersen said, "so we'll have to be real careful how we practice spring and coordinate spring football with the running game, tackling the running backs and giving the quarterbacks a look."

Super Bowl observations

Andersen had high praise for Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner, whom he coached at Utah State. Andersen said he could see Wagner would have a future in the NFL during his senior year, when the linebacker made game-clinching plays in three or four separate games to help Utah State get to its first bowl game.

Andersen also said he knows Wagner, Russell Wilson and former Utah State player and current Seahawks running back Robert Turbin have become close friends in Seattle, and that he's "trying like crazy" to get all three to come to Wisconsin's spring game on April 12.

*Just updated per Gary Andersen interview on The Big 1070 Friday morning.

25 scholarship athletes and five walk-ons joined the Wisconsin football program on Wednesday. Since the dust has settled, how does the the Badgers' 2014 roster shape up?

Greatest additions

Wide receiver and offensive line. Two of the three main focal points for this class were these position groups. Head coach Gary Andersen and his coaching staff added six new linemen and five wide receivers. Andersen mentioned he hoped to reach 16 scholarship linemen -- UW's currently at 14 -- and he wanted some players who were competitive and could stretch the field. The staff found both.

Fewest additions

Defensive tackle. The loss of Sun Prairie's Craig Evans left Jeremy Patterson as the only defensive tackle commit, leaving the position four-deep with probable starter Warren Herring, Bryce Gilbert and Arthur Goldberg. Conor Sheehy has also been mentioned as having the frame at 6'4, 270 pounds, to potentially move to nose guard at some point.

Tight end. The Badgers are five-deep with Sam Arneson, Austin Maly, Austin Traylor, Eric Steffes and T.J. Watt, so they did not take a scholarship tight end after Gaelin Elmore committed to Minnesota. Zack Eckert was added as a walk-on.

Linebacker could also be aligned in this group, but the additions of three linebacker walk-ons, highlighted by Andersen's son, Chasen Andersen and the move of Joe Schobert to inside linebacker, added depth overall.

Quickest impact from new commits

Defensive back, wide receiver, and offensive line (oh, kicker, too). Five new defensive backs signed on and, with Austin Hudson enrolling early, he has a head start toward earning early playing time. Andersen reiterated Wednesday, "We weren't so much looking for corners or safeties, we were looking for young men that are highly competitive, that love the game of football, and that can run."

Also, don't be surprised if Hudson, Lubern Figaro, D'Cota Dixon, Derrick Tindal and Serge Trezy all earn chances to compete in camp.

Speaking of Love, the wide receiver position looks promising, as Andersen said the Badgers wanted numbers at that position as they continually modify the offense. Will Love, Jordan Frederick, Kenzel Doe, Alex Erickson and Rob Wheelright fight off the challenge of newcomers Dareian Watkins, Krenwick Sanders and others? That's one of the top upcoming position battles to watch.

Early enrollees Jaden Gault and Michael Deiter have the opportunity to receive playing time early, as mentioned by Andersen Wednesday. What was most surprising was hearing Deiter's name attached to the starting center position, at least for spring practice, as redshirt freshman Dan Voltz and junior Dallas Lewallen continue to battle injuries.

George Panos, based on Andersen's words Wednesday, appears to have the physical make-up to contribute early on, and based on conversations with Panos himself, he hopes to at least work into the two-deep this season.

The Badgers also found a kicker in Rafael Gaglianone from Sao Paolo, Brazil. Consdering the persistent inconsistency at the kicking position, look for Gaglianone to compete with Jack Russell and Andrew Endicott.

Intriguing positions

Running back and quarterback. The Badgers have seen three running backs contribute heavy presences throughout each of the past two seasons, the most recent seeing Melvin Gordon, James White and Corey Clement rush for 3,600 yards last season. With White gone, though, who will fill the void? There's senior Jeff Lewis, or the two commits in Taiwan Deal and Caleb Kinlaw. The latter has the White-esque physique (5'9, 190 pounds), but we'll see which direction the running back position heads in once a new running backs coach is hired.

Lastly, and arguably most importantly, there is a log jam at the quarterback position. Andersen stated Joel Stave is the team's starting quarterback for now, but Tanner McEvoy is jumping back into the quarterback pool after his generally successful experiment at safety, and three other possible suitors -- Bart Houston, Connor Senger (as mentioned by Andersen Wednesday) and early enrollee D.J. Gillins -- are looking to prove their worth.

Who will rise above the competition to gain a starting spot? The battle begins March 7.

Austin Hudson comes to Madison as an early enrollee who committed way back in June 2013. Back then, we said:

While Hudson is currently an unrated prospect, he comes from a burgeoning power in Florida high school football, as Plant has had plenty of top prospects in recent years, finishing as a top-10 high school nationally in both 2009 and 2011. With his frame and athleticism (listed as a 4.45-second 40-yard dash time), he could be a big help in a position that has been dwindled by the transfer of Reggie Mitchell and the denied admission of Donell Vercher.

He joins Lubern Figaro and Serge Trezy as safeties in this class. Cornerback Derrick Tindal also joins the group, proving UW's already young secondary an infusion of even newer blood.

Verbally committed on June 27, 2013

Hudson attended Wisconsin's camps June 24-25 and committed two days later. He also visited Nov. 9 for the BYU game. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was the primary recruiter, with safeties coach Bill Busch also helping out. Jumping on Hudson quickly was likely fortuitous for Wisconsin -- at the time of his commitment, his only offers were from Holy Cross and Jacksonville State, though he did garner interest from Stanford, Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Georgia also offered, as did MIssouri.
