If casual fans did not know Trimble as JP Tokoto’s little brother, they likely do now that the Badgers have offered. You may think the class of 2012 recruitment that ended with Tokoto spurning Wisconsin for Carolina blue is a bad omen here, but Trimble and his family have a good enough relationship with the staff to get the offer despite Trimble’s current AAU affiliation with Phenom U, which isn’t nothing.

Don’t let any of this take away from the fact that Trimble has become a great player in his own right. His physical strength, athleticism and driving ability are ideal for a lead guard and his perimeter shot is improving. Trimble, who will not turn 18 until the August after his senior season, says he models his game after Damian Lillard. He had a breakout junior campaign for Menomonee Falls, averaging almost 25 points-per-game during the regular season.

In addition to offers from Arizona State, California, Creighton, Iowa State, Milwaukee, Nebraska, TCU, and USC, Trimble recently added Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Marquette and Missouri. The two most significant scholarship opportunities came through too — from North Carolina and Michigan, the latter of which Trimble cited as a bit of a dream school. Though Trimble has scheduled an unofficial visit to Madison (on June 23) that follows his official visits to UNC and Michigan, he may be leaning out of state as his star continues to rise.
