Undecided on College Choice

The efficacy of Wisconsin’s pipeline from Lakeville North High School will be put to the test in the recruitment of Nolan Winter, whose mother and father were both student-athletes at the University of Minnesota. The Badgers trailed the Gophers in extending a scholarship offer to Winter this summer, this one resulting from his performance at UW’s advanced camp on June 30th. Greg Gard and his staff continue to have a great comfort level with the Howard Pulley Panthers for whom he plays on the summer circuit. Winter also plays baseball.

Winter shot up five inches to 6’8” in the past year, yet he hopes to grow a few more inches still — his dad was a 7-footer after all. Currently his highlights show a game that lands somewhere in between those of Tyler Wahl and Nate Reuvers, the pair of previous Lakeville North alums who matriculated to Madison. Winter moves well and can drill jumpers from long distance, but he’s still discovering his defensive and playmaking chops. Will the Swing legacy attract a kid that grew up attending games in Williams Arena? Joe Krabbenhoft hopes so.
