Many believe that Lorne Bowman II would have been the latest Badger target about to blow up nationally during his next travel circuit session. He played up a level for the 17U REACH Legends two summers ago. However, after an official visit to Madison, where he was hosted by Kobe King, Bowman listed four finalists: Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and Valparaiso. Butler also hosted Bowman on an unofficial visit not long before he set an announcement date, but the Bulldogs did not offer. He also had offers from Buffalo and Toledo and was starting to receive interest form the likes of Michigan, Michigan State and Xavier before wrapping up his recruiting process early with a verbal to Wisconsin.

Bowman loved how Wisconsin prioritized him and told 247Sports that he “didn’t want to wait on it.” Dean Oliver was the lead recruiter for Bowman, whose high school coach at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s describes as a crafty, versatile, and rapidly-improving defender comparable to ex-Spartan Kalin Lucas. Bowman will definitely need to improve his outside shooting, but brings a skill set getting to the rim that Wisconsin doesn’t often see.

Heading into his senior season, Bowman opted to switch AAU teams, joining EYBL squad The Family. He acquitted himself nicely on the Nike circuit, averaging 13.6 points and 3.6 assists through his first six games. Best of all for Badger fans, Bowman has admitted to doing a little recruiting for Wisconsin in the upcoming classes.

Halfway through his senior season, Bowman continues to shine. He is one of the frontrunners for Mr. Basketball in Michigan, leading the Eaglets to an undefeated record thus far and the top ranking in Division 1.
