Verbally committed to UCLA
Looney earned MVP honors playing up in the 17U group at the Next Level Invitational and claimed offers from Marquette and Wisconsin at the NY2LA Sports UA Summer Jam. However, only Marquette's offer was confirmed. Since then, Illinois offered a scholarship, before Looney really blew up in the summer after his sophomore season. Recently Looney competed in Nike's prestigious LeBron James Skills Academy to rave reviews. He listed offers from Georgetown, Tennessee, Michigan State, Michigan and Cincinnati in addition to growing interest from powerhouses Kansas, UNC and Kentucky. But his short list was cut to six schools just before August when he named Duke, Florida, Michigan State, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin his finalists.
