Until late in the proces, Johnny Davis had been adamant up that he and his twin brother Jordan were a package deal, which kept his recruitment pretty interesting and close to the vest. The move was a mild surprise since Jordan is generally viewed as a better prospect on the football field as a receiver, where Johnny has been tossing him touchdowns passes as his quarterback. Yet it worked. Wisconsin changed the game by offering Jordan a full basketball scholarship the first week of June. Within two weeks, the twins were Badgers, announcing at Wisconsin’s team camp on June 15.

After winning a state title in basketball with current Badger Kobe King as a high school freshman, the Davis brothers led La Crosse Central to the state tournament again as juniors before falling 72-71 in overtime to Milwaukee Washington in an epic contest.
Wisconsin was involved with Johnny Davis from the very beginning and it paid off. His explosiveness, ability to get to the rim, and desire to defend made him a standout in every setting. Though he played hard to get and seemed to be waiting for jazzier offers to materialize, Davis knew the opportunity to play with his brother at the flagship state university was too good of an opportunity to pass on. His most recent offers this spring included DePaul, Iowa, Marquette, Minnesota and West Virginia. That chip on Davis’ shoulder won’t be a bad thing. Davis stated a preference for an up-tempo offense where he can contribute immediately. He’ll be competing with King and senior Brad Davison for time on the wing as a frosh, but could be a key cog right away as a sophomore. With his brother and Lorne Bowman at his side, a faster Badger team is very possible.
