Verbal commitment Verbally committed to Colorado

Hurlburt is an intriguing prospect from Wisconsin’s new favorite pipeline for big men: the D1 Minnesota travel club. Being a North Dakota kid, having Joe Krabbenhoft as the lead recruiter did not hurt either. Hurlburt has the size, athleticism and demeanor you like to see in a young center. Now 6’10”, Hurlburt has been playing up at the varsity level since his seventh grade season. Enderlin is a tiny town of less than 1,000 resident located an hour southwest of Fargo, where Hurlburt played alongside his shorter, less-heralded brother Gus for several years. Joe will have to fight the perception that he’s simply dominating inferior competition, an opportunity he will get with D1 Minnesota at some point.

Iowa, Colorado and North Dakota were the only other major conference schools who had offered Hurlburt, so the Badgers got in at the right time. Butler, Memphis, Minnesota, Ohio State, Oregon, and Virginia were among the programs who also contacted Hurlburt on the first day of contact for rising juniors. Eventually, Nebraska, Iowa State, Oregon State, Virginia Tech would extend offers, along with the Gophers and Buckeyes. Choosing from Minnesota, OSU, Iowa and Colorado, Hurlburt chose the Buffaloes shortly after the NCAA tournament exit.
