Schutt has ideal size for a shooting guard to go along with a pure shooting stroke, so it’s no surprise elite Big Ten programs have come calling. Joe Henrickson of the City/Suburban Hoops Report compared Schutt’s shooting touch and elite mechanics to former Indiana Hoosier Matt Roth after he set an Illinois record for three-pointers (17) in a single game, thanks to Yorkville Christian’s aerial assault approach. And then there is the little matter of Schutt’s alleged 38-inch vertical.

Wisconsin offered Schutt during Greg Gard’s early-July ‘20 flurry, right on the heels of Michigan State’s offer. Moving beyond his initial mid-major offers from Southern Illinois, Drake and UIC, Schutt also has been offered by Creighton, Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Marquette, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Xavier. Schutt previously has unofficially visited Purdue, Michigan State and Iowa to attend games and finally made a visit to Madison on June 28, 2021. Schutt plays AAU ball with the Illinois Wolves, whose strong relationship with Wisconsin can only benefit the staff during these strange pandemic-tinged recruitments. Yorkville Christian is a Class A school an hour outside of Chicago that plays an independent schedule, allowing Schutt to square off against some top-notch local teams, like Morgan Park.
