Thorpe pushed back his Wisconsin visit from Aug. 15 to Sep. 1, then to Nov. 19, and obviously never made it. Lamont Paris was the lead recruiter on Thorpe. As far as preferred destinations, Thorpe expressed an affinity for both Pittsburgh and Ohio State early on. His first confirmed offer came from Rutgers last fall, but since then he claimed new offers from Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Kansas State and Wisconsin with rumored interest from Louisville, Baylor, and Gonzaga. Pittsburgh's interest was never confirmed to get too serious, allowing another local school, Penn State, to swoop in with a strong closing push. After all the offseason drama concerning his high school situation, he will return to Shaler.
