Verbal commitment Verbally committed to West Virginia

Wisconsin kept tabs on the versatile Ahmad throughout the spring, but seemed willing to concede him to in-state Buckeyes after Ohio State offered in May. However, led by Ohio native Lamont Paris, the Badgers' coaching staff has upped the ante with a full ride offer to the rising senior in July. Frankly, I'm was surprised Ahmad was not even more highly rated -- he has toughness, decent handles, a good-looking shot, and the ability to block shots.

Ahmad has been a prolific producer through his first three seasons at the high school level and appears able to play both forward spots at the next level. He has numerous scholarship offers throughout Big Ten and ACC country, highlighted by Ohio State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Miami, UNLV, West Virginia, and Xavier. Ahmad maintains he will make a decision by August, after making additional visits to Michigan and Michigan State -- so more offers could be coming. He also recently attended the LeBron James Skills Academy.

Ahmad wanted to make a decision by September, but it will be very tight if he's trying to take five official visits before choosing. Fresh on the heels of a big decommitment at Ohio State, Ahmad's father announced he planned to visit Wisconsin on Sept. 20, but later that was switched to a West Virginia visit. Instead, Ahmad announced plans to host in-home visits with his five finalists: Ohio State, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin and Oregon (cutting out Michigan State and Tulane). However, he made the call for Bob Huggins and WVU a day before Wisconsin's staff planned to travel to Ohio for their visit.
