Brother of former Michigan State guard Travis Trice, the younger Trice won a state title at Wayne High School, which is coached by his father. A two-sport athlete (quarterback) back in Ohio, Trice went to IMG Academy for a post-graduate year to further focus on hoops. He played his AAU ball with the familiar and respected All-Ohio Red program which produced Nigel Hayes and Traevon Jackson, among others. Part of the reason Trice may have flown under the radar was the surgery and rehab for a torn meniscus in May of 2014 that limited him on the summer circuit during the most important time for a recruit.
Wisconsin offered "Meech" after both Greg Gard and Lamont Paris flew down to Florida for a workout. The Badgers represented Trice's first high major offer, though the home state Buckeyes came through with a big offer the following week, as has Vanderbilt's new head coach Bryce Drew. He also held offers from DePaul, Akron, Cleveland State, Miami (OH) and other mid-majors. Trice scheduled visits to Wisconsin and Vanderbilt back-to-back, but canceled the Nashville trip once Madison sealed his fate with the Badgers. He'll sign by the end of April during the spring signing period.
