Verbally committed to Drake
Wampler began to break out nationally in the opening days of the spring AAU season after his junior year, in which he lead the Cloverbelt - West Conference with over 25 points-per-game. Wisconsin joined a number of schools in April that took a peek at Wampler's progress. The Badgers continued to monitor Wampler on the circuit down in Georgia. With a new coaching regime at Marquette, this is the kind of prospect UW cannot slow-play anymore. Case in point, Wampler's offer sheet consisted of Bucknell, Creighton, Davidson, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State and most recently Auburn, but Drake recruited him the most fervently and the longest.
