Kaminsky, Dekker invited to NBA Draft green room

1

Big congrats go out to former Wisconsin Badgers forwards Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker for being invited to the 2015 NBA Draft green room on Thursday night.

Both players are expected to be drafted in the early to mid-first round and could be lottery picks. They join former Kentucky Wildcats Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker and Willie Cauley-Stein and Duke's Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow as green room invitees.

Could Frank Kaminsky be headed to the Knicks at No. 4?

The Badgers star has gained some draft steam in recent weeks, but this is a huge jump if this report is deemed to be true.

The Knicks are interested in adding Kaminsky to run the triangle offense, but can't find a willing trade partner to move down. So they might just take him anyway, because Knicks.

Women's hockey's Courtney Burke selected in first round of NWHL draft

+

Wisconsin junior Courtney Burke was selected fourth overall in the inaugural NWHL draft by the Buffalo Beauts. Burke is an Albany, NY native, so she'll be heading back near home. The NWHL is the first paid professional women's league in the US. They will start play this October - the amateur draft is for college juniors who'll play the second season. The early draft allows the players to arrange part time jobs and housing.

Top Wisconsin recruit Ben Bredeson commits to Michigan

60

In not entirely unexpected but still not enjoyable news, high-four-star offensive tackle from Hartland (Arrowhead), Wis., Ben Bredeson verbally committed to Michigan on Wednesday. Bredeson, widely considered the top prospect from Wisconsin in the class of 2016, becomes the Wolverines' third offensive line commit in their class of 2016.

As for the Badgers? Green Bay (Bay Port), Wis., four-star offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen moves into position as their top target. Look for the Badgers to also make a move with four-star Baltimore (Gilman), Md., tackle Devery Hamilton. The Badgers have been in contention for Hamilton for a while, and with space in Michigan closing quickly, there's a chance to make a new impression.

Dekker, Kaminsky not expected to workout with Bucks

5

For anyone holding onto NBA pipe dreams of Sam Dekker or Frank Kaminsky landing with the Milwaukee Bucks, it might be time to let them go. Of course, heavy-handed analysis of who works out where and with whom before the draft is exceptionally silly. Plus, with the Bucks holding the No. 17 pick, there's a good chance neither Wisconsin player will still be on the board (Kaminsky seems more unlikely to be off the board by then, perhaps by the No. 10 pick). Bucks director of scouting Billy McKinney said as much on Tuesday.

McKinney added that the Bucks invited both Dekker and Kaminsky to come in for workouts, and that team officials met both players while in Chicago for the draft combine last month. It isn't uncommon for players to turn some workouts down or even cancel them as the dates approach. The time leading up to the draft is especially busy for the prospects, who are working out on their own, in front of teams, doing their first promotional appearances and much more. It would've been awesome to see Dekker or Kaminsky land in Milwaukee, but it might be time to let those hopes go.

Traevon Jackson to work out with Washington Wizards

+

Former Wisconsin Badgers point guard Traevon Jackson will be working out with the Washington Wizards Wednesday, the team's official Twitter account announced on Tuesday.

Looks like Jackson joins former Badgers Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker, Duje Dukan and Josh Gasser as those going through the pre-draft team workout routine leading up on Thursday, June 25th.

Jackson also worked out with the Utah Jazz back in May.

Josh Gasser is getting NBA looks from teams, too

He's not expected to be drafted, but don't be shocked if former Wisconsin guard Josh Gasser catches on with a team. He's had three workouts, with two upcoming.
