The Wisconsin Badgers have landed a commitment from Toledo Rockets transfer defensive back RJ Delancy, he announced on Monday.
Delancy, a graduate transfer, will have one year of eligibility remaining, and seems primed to be the heir to Jason Maitre in the slot.
Standing at 6’0, 180 pounds, Delancy had 28 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and an interception in 2023.
Delancy is a second-time transfer, moving from Nebraska to Toledo and now Wisconsin, where he’ll spend his final season of college.
The veteran defensive back was highly sought after in the transfer portal, but seemed to narrow down his final three to Wisconsin, Auburn, and Memphis.
After taking an official visit to Madison this weekend, Delancy ultimately committed to Wisconsin, providing the Badgers with arguably their top defensive back target in the transfer portal.
With Delancy coming in to likely play nickelback, safety Austin Brown, who played in the slot during the bowl game, can go back to his original position, where he started to pull away from the competition at the end of the year.
