Wisconsin Badgers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes: Game Thread

Can the Badgers start off 2024 on a strong note at home?

NCAA Basketball: Wisconsin at Arizona Zachary BonDurant-USA TODAY Sports

The Wisconsin Badgers are set to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday, most recently coming off an 80-53 win over the Chicago State Cougars.

With the win last week, the Badgers stand at a 9-3 record, which they’ll look to improve on Tuesday against Iowa, with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 P.M. CT on the Big Ten Network.

Iowa, standing at 8-5, struggled to begin the season with five losses in an eight-game stretch, but rebounded with three straight wins to cap off their nonconference schedule.

The Hawkeyes have scored 87.8 points a game, shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.

In Tuesday’s game, the Hawkeyes are seen as 5.5-point favorites, with the over/under set at 152.5 points.

Looking at the spread, Iowa’s scoring poses a real threat, but the over/under is too high for me to feel comfortable picking a side. Instead, I’m expecting more of a closer match between the two sides, and will take Iowa to cover the 5.5-point spread.

Iowa can score in a multitude of ways, and I expect the Badgers to score as well, but Chucky Hepburn could be limited, and this is a tough matchup defensively, leading me to lean Iowa’s way to cover the spread.

Prediction: Iowa +5.5
