Former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Jordan Turner is transferring to the Michigan State Spartans, he announced last week.

Turner, a redshirt junior in 2023, had been a multi-year starter at Wisconsin, but didn’t seem to be a great fit for defensive coordinator Mike Tressel’s preferred scheme.

With Turner moving on, the Badgers will now be down two of their top three linebackers, as Maema Njongmeta will not return for a final season either.

Heading to Michigan State, Turner will be closer to home, as he went to Farmington High School in Farmington, Michigan.

Turner becomes one of the first transfers in for new head coach Jonathan Smith, who was hired away from Oregon State as the next man in charge for the Spartans.

Turner will play under new defensive coordinator Joe Rossi, who Smith hired away from the Minnesota Golden Gophers, where he was coaching under the same position.
