Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New offer
- 2023 4-star CB Avieon Terrell (Atlanta) out of Westlake High School received an offer from Wisconsin on Friday. He has nearly 20 offers already including from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Southern Cal and Tennessee among others. Right now, 247 Sports has Clemson listed as the favorite which, yeah, ok I can see that.
I would like to thank my teammates and my coaches for helping me receive an offer from @BadgerFootball @WestlakeFB1 @ChadSimmons_ @RivalsJohnson pic.twitter.com/Si6bouXZmj

Terrell stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 165 pounds and is the younger brother of former Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell who was a first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2020. Avieon Terrell is ranked as the No. 157 player and No. 22 CB in the country by the 247 Composite as well as the No. 17 player in the state of Georgia.
On his 247 profile, it notes that during his freshman year in 2019 he recorded five interceptions.
Terrell is physical and has good ball skills. His hips seem fluid and he looks like a guy that you’ll be able to just stick out on an island and not worry about that half of the field. It will be interesting to see how deep UW gets into this recruitment since his brother went to Clemson and he is from Georgia, which are two strikes against the Badgers.
New Crystal ball for UW
- Early on Friday morning, director of football recruiting for 247 Sports, Steve Wiltfong, changed his Crystal Ball prediction on 2022 4-star IOL Billy Schrauth (Fond du Lac) from Notre Dame to Wisconsin. As you can see in our pal Ben’s tweet, Wiltfong is rarely wrong and I’d guess the reason he changed his pick is because a decision is coming soon for Schrauth.

More visitors for Penn State game
- AJ Nichols, a 2022 ATH from Wauwatosa, will be on campus this weekend for the Penn State game.

2022 4-star OL Carson Hinzman (Hammond) will be on campus this weekend and will also be going to Ohio State the following weekend. I haven’t seen anywhere if he made it up to the Twin Cities on Thursday for the game against Ohio State, but apparently he was trying to do so.
Top247 2022 OL Carson Hinzman has big visits coming up to #Wisconsin this Saturday and #OhioState next Saturday. Trying to get to #Minnesota tonight too. More here: https://t.co/ugmUtGithy

2023 ATH J.T. Smith, Jr. (Cornelius, N.C.) posted that he is in Madison for the weekend. He’ll be able to watch a number of William Amos Hough High School teammates play, which can only help in his recruitment.

Another basketball target off the board
- 2022 4-star SG Jaden Schutt (Yorkville, Ill.) had been a target of the Badgers for a long time, however not so much recently. He ended up picking Duke earlier this week and good for him. It’s a shame that Wisconsin can’t put a little more pressure on some of these 2022 prospects earlier and get them committed but c’est la vie.
