Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

Badgers make top-five

  • After visiting Madison on Aug. 5, 2022 3-star SG (247 Sports only) Josh Dix (Council Bluffs, Iowa) out of Abraham Lincoln High School earned an offer from UW. On Tuesday evening, he announced his top-five list and it included the Badgers. The other four teams that made the cut are Wake Forest, Utah, Drake and Iowa.

Dix already has an official visit lined up with Wisconsin, coming to campus the weekend of Sept. 11 for the Eastern Michigan football game and to take an in-depth look at the program. He has already taken an official to Wake and has an official visit on the books with Iowa the week before he visits Madison.

According to 247 Sports, Dix is the top rated player in the state of Iowa for the 2022 class and the No. 24 shooting guard in the nation. Rivals and 247 each have one prediction in for Dix, and they are both for Iowa, but we’ve seen prospects become enamored with Wisconsin after an official visit before.

The 6-foot-4 (or 6-foot-5) and 185ish pound guard averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and 4.5 assists as a junior. The Badgers are still in the mix for 2022 3-star SG Connor Essegian out of Indiana and 2022 3-star PF Braden Huff out of Illinois as well and have, at most, two scholarships available for the class.
