Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

  • 2023 4-star S Marvin Burks, Jr. (St. Louis) out of Cardinal Ritter College Prep announced on Thursday that he had received an offer from Wisconsin. Burks already has offers from Arkansas, Florida, Iowa State, Mizzou, Vanderbilt and West Virginia among others, but could see his recruitment blow up this season.

Burks stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 190 pounds, putting him at around Hunter Wohler size. The Composite 4-star is the No. 291 rated player in the country as well as the No. 24 safety. He is also the No. 8 player in Missouri.

Burks shows good ball skills, quick closing speeds and overall seems to have a high football IQ. He moves well for a taller safety and in a different world where he grows a few more inches you could see him as an interesting coverage linebacker type player. The Badgers are one of his top offers right now but, again, Burks seems like a prospect who is about to get a lot more offers.
