Wisconsin football recruiting: UW offers walk-on spot to 2022 in-state kicker

The kicker from Kaukauna is an all-state performer in Wisconsin.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

  • The Badgers sent out a preferred walk-on offer to 2022 K Gavin Lahm (Kaukauna) out of Kaukauna High School. Our inside sources on the ground in Kaukauna (aka Rock’s mom who lives there) tell us that Gavin’s grandfather Craig used to be the head of the Kaukauna Public Library. You, and I can’t emphasize this enough, can’t get this kind of recruiting insight anywhere else on the internet.

Lahm stands at 6-foot and weighs around 200 pounds according to his Kohl’s Kicking profile, although he has yet to attend a Kohl’s sponsored event. According to Belz, Lahm won two kicking contests at UW specialist camps this summer and in the limited stats I could find it appears that he made a 50-yard field goal this past season.

According to his Hudl tape, he went 9-of-13 on field goals last year and also had 30 touchbacks on 73 kickoffs.

The 50-yarder is just after the one minute mark of his highlight tape, and you should take a look at it because he freaking BOOMS it. Very impressive for a high school junior.
